Happy Wedding Wednesday! A month ago I visited the gorgeous state of Utah for the first time and absolutely fell in love. With everything. One of the highlights of my trip was photographing a styled shoot at White Shanty in Provo with Megan + Ben, one of the sweetest couples I've ever met! It's about time I shared them with you all, so enjoy! NEWS FLASH: I'm on the hunt for Friday + Sunday December-February weddings! If one of your friends books their day with me then I'll give you a 10% discount on a portrait session! You don't have to be local because I enjoy traveling! So refer away! :) Venue: White Shanty

When I was in Utah a couple of weeks ago I had the chance of meeting this sweet girl during one of our styled shoots! She was one of our models and I loved spending time with her. Turns out she's also a blogger AND a pilates instructor so I'll definitely be scheduling a session with her on my next visit! Be sure to check out her blog Stay Beautiful and Strong!
Everything about Utah is beautiful: the scenery, the people, the style! It is the most beautiful place I have ever been to, with some of the most beautiful souls you could ever meet; and Alexa and Hayden were no exception. From the moment that they stepped in the room, you could instantly see the connection they had (which translated flawlessly onto the camera). They made jokes together, laughed together, and were just fun all around. The time we had together while in Park City has only added to my desire to travel to new places and meet new people. And the images that came from their bridal session are a collection for the books! Makeup: Beauty by Alexa Larsen

2. It Puts Yourself in Your Client's Shoes You don't realize how much of a blessing a good, kind, thoughtful photographer is until you're the one fidgeting awkwardly in front of the camera not knowing where to place your hands, or turn your head, or place your eyes...! It REALLY helps to have a photographer who makes you feel welcome and beautiful from the beginning. When you're the client, you begin to appreciate so much more the little things that create a good client experience - the hugs, personal conversation, those client gifts that make them feel even more appreciated...it all plays a part in their experience.
3. You Learn From It When you give camera control over to someone else, it's a big deal. But, no matter how your experience turns out remember to use it as a growth opportunity. What did you like about your session? Not like about it? What are the things that you noticed that you can implement in your own business to better your clients' experiences? It could be as simple as they asked you about your life instead of talking about theirs, or it could be bigger (maybe they didn't communicate very well with you during the process). Whatever it is, you can grow from it. Photo by Nicole Marie Photography
When I hosted my exhibit, "Mister and Misses" last year, I thought about running a photo booth for viewers complete with props so they would feel like they were at a real wedding. In my research for this, I came across an app called Simple Booth. Simple Booth is a user-friendly app that you can download on your iPad and set up for wedding guests to have their photo taken. All they have to do is tap the screen to begin a countdown "3, 2, 1..." and the app takes three consecutive photos for you. Then your guests can choose the layout and email the photo to themselves or share directly on social media. It's really convenient and very fun for the guests! I didn't end up using the photo booth at my exhibit because in the long run, I didn't think it would be the right setting for it. But, I was able to refer Simple Booth to one of my brides this summer and it was quite a hit at her wedding! Here's what she had to say about it: "Simple Booth was a crowd pleaser! Every one had a blast taking pictures in different groups and with some props I bought at the dollar store. The pictures turned out so great, too. They really captured my guests showing their personalities and having fun. My best friend got married three weeks later and wanted to use Simple Booth, too after she saw it at mine! It was a big hit!" - Ashley R. You can download Simple Booth for free here - Enjoy!
