Kayla is such a sweetheart, and a true beauty inside and out! It's been a blessing getting to know her a little bit here and there this year. We took this photos over the weekend for a monochrome assignment I have, and I love them!

Today it dawned on me that Easter, for a lot of people, is about the Easter bunny and creating fun egg hunts for their kids in the back yard. For some reason, this year I completely forgot about the celebrations that our society has made from the holiday that originally evolved because of a very gruesome, gut-wrenching, nausea-inducing event. This year it finally hit me, the seriousness of this weekend, the intense meaning behind it’s origin. And I know that people have been trying to describe it in decorative, elaborate ways to get people thinking about it for years, but now that I’ve caught on to its importance, I really want other people to see its importance too. There’s part of me that wants to write half of this piece in all caps just so I can get your attention, but that doesn't seem right. If you are reading this, then it’s because you want to, or you’re curious about what I have to say; and if you’re actually listening, then I don’t mind if it doesn’t quite sink in yet. The fact that you’re attempting to pay attention is more than I can say for a lot of other people.
Okay, so I’m going to try and break this weekend down for you in the simplest terms possible. Sometimes simple is better. Today is Good Friday. What’s Good Friday? Good question! It’s more than a day of sales and happy shopping. Today is the day that a guy died for you. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, how an innocent man who never did any wrong, died a torturous death in front of all of his friends and family who couldn’t (or wouldn’t) do anything to stop it from happening because they were afraid of the authorities. Well, that’s true. And boy could I get on a roll, but I said I would keep this simple and that seems simple enough. Tomorrow is the day that all of the authorities completely freaked out because they remembered that this guy had said he would come back to life after three days. So they placed bodyguards next to a dead guy’s grave. Obviously this guy was a pretty big threat to them. Sunday is the big day. Easter. It is not the day when the Easter bunny rose from the dead. We’re not talking about him because contrary to popular belief, he has nothing to do with the origin of Easter. Anyway, as I was saying… Sunday is the day when a huge earthquake happened, super bright creatures from the sky came down to move away this guy’s tombstone, and THE GUY WALKED OUT OF HIS GRAVE - ALIVE!! (Sorry, I know I said I wouldn’t use caps locks, but THIS IS CRAZY!!). The bodyguards appropriately freaked out, and became like dead men themselves. I’m not kidding. You can read it for yourself in Matthew 28. If you haven’t picked up on it already, this “guy” is Jesus. And if you don’t know who Jesus is, then let me tell you, you are totally missing out on one rockin’ friendship. He’s been with me through thick (and I mean you-can-barely-walk-let-alone-move-your-feet thick) and the thin. It’s a rockin’ friendship because it’s solid rock. He is the Rock. This weekend I hope that you take the time to learn the true meaning of Easter, and I hope that you can find the joy in all of it’s pain. If nothing else, please at least tell God thank you for sending his Son to bring us salvation through death on the cross. He at least deserves that much. It's not every day that you get to do Senior photos for a pilot, but that's what happened for me a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome! Joseph is graduating with an aviation major in May and I'm excited to see where he goes next!
One year and three months ago, God brought a little angel into the world by the name of Kate. She happens to be my boyfriend's niece so I actually got to be there the day she was born, and thankfully I get to see her a lot because she is the cutest! I took Kate's newborn photos at their house, but this time her mom and I decided to do the shoot in the studio which was fun for everyone. We got some balloons and letters to spell her name for some props; since Kate just learned to walk not too long ago, and this was a new environment, she was all over the place. We finally got her distracted enough with the balloons for some photos. :) Oh hello there. Running around was perhaps her favorite thing to do the entire shoot. She's the cutest little ballerina you ever did see. Those eyes... To finish it off, I wanted to do some photos of Kate and her mom to resemble this photo from her newborn shoot: The results were so much better than what I had hoped for. Their bond makes my heart melt every time. Gotta save the best for last. :)
My sister and her boyfriend, John, are pretty cute. They both like to laugh and they're both talented musicians who enjoy a good random jam session. They could also both be models: I told you they were cute, right?
